It's a quiet fall morning in the small town of Deltaville. The wind rustles the changing leaves and the cry of seagulls echo across the water. Jackson Creek flows in and around this quaint village located near the mouth of the Rappahannock River at the Chesapeake Bay.
A 19th century farmhouse sits on the water's edge of this small harbor. Someone is stirring inside this beautiful "Chesapeake Style" home as the smoke from a wood burning stove slowly rises from the chimney. Tied up at the dock are two buy-boats, the Thomas W. and Iva W., which anxiously await the busy day ahead. Both the boats and the house are now gone from the area, and with them some of the charm of earlier days on the creek.
