LIBERTY TREE … Revolutionary meetings held at it gained this name for the great tulip poplar, which is believed to be over 600 years old and is 29 feet around. A treaty with Indians is said to have been signed under it in 1652. The tree stands in front of Woodward Hall, the library building of St. John’s College.
