Commissioned in 1961 and decommissioned in 2017 USS Enterprise CVN-65 was the eighth naval vessel to bear the name. Nicknamed ‘Big E’ like her predecessor, sailors would spell out E=mc2 on her deck as she was the world’s first nuclear powered aircraft carrier!
