The majestic schooner Adventurer sails up the Rappahannock River as the last rays of sunlight bathe the scene in warmth. She has returned from a long voyage and is welcomed by the calm waters of the river. Captain John Smith explored this area in 1608 and adopted the Indian name for the river Rappahannock which means "quick rising water".
