Artist James Madison
The career of James Madison as an artist has ranged from technical illustration and product renderings to graphic art and design, with emphasis on the former. Several years ago marine art captured his interest and became his main area of concentration.

Jim’s paintings are in private collections throughout the east coast and are hung in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Maritime Museum. He is also shown in the Swee Bay Gallery in Charleston, SC, the Pilothouse Nautical Art, Charts, etc. in Philadelphia, PA, and in the Mystic Seaport Gallery in Mystic, CT. His watercolors are distinguished by their crystal clarity, vividness of color and unerring sense of place.

Madison’s formal training was with The Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles, CA and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA. He also studies under the direction of Charles Kinghan, N.A.,A.W.S. He is an artist member of the American Society of Marine Artists, an associate member of the American Watercolor Society, and an official artist for the United States Coast Guard. He currently teaches watercolor classes at Perkins Center for the Arts, Moorestown, NJ.
