Paul Landry

1931 - 2018. Paul was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and often went with the fishermen on the Nova Scotia banks to observe and experience the sea first hand. Paul Landry captured the atmosphere of coastal New England in all its modesty and warmth, expressing the essence of spring – blue hydrangeas, the new blooms on the rose arbor and the light dappling a classic cape cod shingled roof, always against a maritime backdrop.

He made his home in Connecticut where he enjoyed photography, golf, classical music and gardening. Enormously versatile, he worked in a variety of mediums, including etching. Every subject is worth painting but most especially, the wonderful, limitless sea. Paul Landry scenes remain familiar to generations of art lovers, and we are most fortunate to have displayed his art since the gallery’s founding.
