Yves Parent
Yves Parent was a native of the Normandy region of France. After years as a practicing lawyer and acting as executive of his grandfather’s mineral water enterprise, Yves dedicated himself fully to his artwork. He traversed the Atlantic on his schooner, sailing between France and England, the West Indies and the East Coast of America. He would harbor for months at a time to study and paint areas which he found rich in landscape and seafaring activity.
For more than 15 years, he painted the most beautiful coastal scenes from the Chesapeake Bay to the coast of Maine. He sketched and many times finished his watercolors right on his boat. He worked in his studio as well. His great knowledge of boats and the sea permitted him to paint his watercolors with a sailor’s eye and an experienced artist’s hand. His paintings can be seen in the best marine art galleries on the East Coast.
