Peter Hanks

Peter Hanks is the fourth generation of Hanks family artists on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. After receiving a degree in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design, Peter returned to the Eastern Shore to illustrate the landmarks and life of the region in his watercolors and pencil drawings.

Peter’s artwork is about accurate observation of details and creating a three-dimensional world on a two-dimensional surface. Hanging in the Decoy Bar at the Tidewater Inn is one of his favorite works – a portrait of his father, noted carver Ted Hanks. Other examples of his work are displayed at the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club, Tred Avon Yacht Club and the Talbot Country Club.

Peter resides on Woodland Creek in Talbot County with his wife Trish and stepsons Brett and Douglas.
